This weekend me and my partner travelled to Ireland, we’ve been exploring the city of Dublin. We drank a lot of Guinness, listened to a lot of live music and learnt a lot of history. Below will be some Irish themed recommendations but before that - below I have the adapted design from last week turned into a rave flyer for an upcoming event.
For this design I used one of my 30 glass shapes I made last month. Find the download pack HERE.
What I’ve been listening to:
I’ve been listening to a lot of Irish live music this weekend which has led me to learn a lot about the history between them and England. England colonised Ireland for over 800 years, banning the Irish language and treated them awfully. However through all the conflict it’s led to a lot of good music. Here’s one of the rebel songs I’ve been enjoying which was played live at many of the pubs. It’s called Back Home in Derry by Christy Moore. Originally written by written by Bobby Sands while imprisoned in HM Prison Maze. The lyrics describe the voyage of Irish rebels, convicted to exile in Australia, in the aftermath of the Irish Rebellion of 1803.
What I’ve been watching
Heard a lot about a rap duo called Kneecap whilst in Dublin, they’ve been reviving the Irish language, they’ve also got a film out which we watched this week. It shows how they came to fruition and also about the Irish language movement they’ve helped create. Watch the trailer here.
